Amazing Artist Is Displayed In The Ranks Of Stanford Who's Who
Stanford Who's Who welcomes Inge Behrens to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her extraordinary work in the Arts.
WALNUT CREEK, CA, September 29, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Inge Behrens to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her extraordinary work in the Arts. As an Artist and Owner of the Inge Behrens Fine Arts Studio for the past 12 years, Inge has consistently demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Inge was born in Bremen, Germany in 1942. She showed great promise as an artist at an early age. Inge received a classical European education followed by a dress and tailoring apprenticeship, earning a degree in fashion design. She went to become a fashion designer with "Martina Modelle," a highly reputable fashion house in Hamburg, Germany. She moved to the United States in 1964, continuing her education at the Fashion Institute of New York where she was recruited by Simplicity Pattern. After getting married in 1965, she moved to San Francisco and started a family. This is when she returned to her passion of painting, volunteering at a number of art galleries as well as teaching art technique and sewing for enrichment to elementary students. She also began designing manuals and catalogs for various fund-raisers.
Inge attended Diablo Valley College in 1974, where she studied business and art. She also joined the art gallery co-op "Palette of Art" in Walnut Creek, where she held a one-person art show. Shortly after that, she established an automotive repair shop with her husband where she took on the responsibilities of administration and P.R., while retaining her involvement in the art communities.
Inge expanded her artistic scope in 1984, starting her own business where she designed business logos, created certificates of recognition for various national companies as well as designed custom invitations, and pen personal works of art on request. She then joined the Calligraphers' Forum in 1986 and became the organization's president for two consecutive years in 1990 and 1991. During that time she participated in the design and contents of three books; "A Dash of This and A Stroke of That", "Family and Friends", and "Special Dates." Inge also published "75th Diamond Jubilee of Walnut Creek", a visual history of the city then and now, which received official recognition and was displayed throughout the city.
Inge participated in the 1986 San Francisco Trade Fair and the New York "Art expo", displaying her work among well-known artists. Having traveled the world throughout her life, she has incorporated the visual experiences of these travels into her work. Inge has been able to capture the romantic feel of medieval castles, the tranquility of the tropics, and the calm quiet siesta of an old narrow Greek passage at mid-afternoon. Her strength and main interest lies in drawing and painting but she also has explored and has a working understanding of the techniques of linoleum cutting, wood cuts, and zinc copper plate etchings and stained glass.
