Milan is currently boasting a stunning collection of Goya's paintings.
MILAN, ITALY, May 28, 2010 /Museums PR News/ -- A selection of Francisco Goya's paintings are on display at the Palazzo Reale until June 27th, with many of his creations going on to influence some of the most famous artists in history.
Curated by Concepcion Lomba Serrano and Valeriano Boza, this exhibition shows the talents of this great Spanish artist in all their glory and makes the connections to the people his work went on to play a critical role for, such as Picasso, de Kooning Delacroix and Francis Bacon.
Hello Magazine recently explained that the show is divided into five sections and features 184 works by Goya, as well as 45 works by other celebrated artists for guests at Milan hotels to enjoy.
"The exhibition offers an unprecedented and stimulating comparison between Goya and the modern world, of which the painter has been a prophet and witness as both man and artist," observed the publication.
Some of the topics that are covered within Goya's oeuvre include the reaction of people to everyday life and the violence and terror of modern society.
This fascinating display is on show at the Palazzo Reale, which is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 09:30 (local time) and closes at 19:30 except for on Thursdays when it shuts at 14:30.
