Christopher Flach, Filmmaker and Photographer is Featured in The New York Times Style Magazine

Featured in The New York Times Style Magazine, Christopher's new documentary deconstructs the designers lasting legacy.

    NEW YORK, NY, October 20, 2008 /Museums PR News/ -- Christopher Flach's film "Madeleine Castaing," is the documentary that explores the personality and influence of the French decorator and antique dealer. The film celebrates Castaing's neoclassical taste in decor and her glamorous appearance even into her 90s. The film reintroduces her taste for Napoleon III furnishings and 18th century English furniture to collectors of art and design. Christopher Petkanas writes "Its a fountain of theatrical reminiscences."

About Madeleine Castaing
Madeleine Castaing (1894-1992) was a prominent antiquaire and interior decorator in Paris for more than fifty years. She and her husband Marcellin were key members of the artistic community of Montparnasse in the 1920s and 30s, and became friends with writers, musicians and artists. Among those artists Castaing was closest to was Chaim Soutine. Soutine was a frequent houseguest at the Castaing country home in Lèves. Soutine's 1929 portrait of Madeleine is now in the collection of the Metropolitan MuseumChristopher has produced several short films, which have screened internationally and on local public television. His photography has appeared in San Francisco Magazine, the New York Times, Western Interiors and Design Magazine, House Beautiful Magazine, Traditional Home Magazine, Elle Decor and Paper City.

About Christopher Flach
A New York City native, Flach spent his very early art career studying with Ansel Adams and Yousuf Karsh and more recently under the tutelage of Mary Ellen Mark. With a studio in New York City, Christopher continues to photograph and create documentary films, while donating his work and time to raise funds for the arts.
