Bay Minette, Alabama destination of the World's First Highway Steam Locomotive Passenger Train.
The Baldwin County Express is a 501(c3) nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting and preserving local history. The group is building a full scale steam locomotive replica which will operate on the highway. They have plans to run regularly scheduled trips to every major area in Baldwin County.
/Museums PR News/ - SUMMERDALE, AL, August 06, 2008 - All Aboard, Bay Minette Alabama! The Baldwin Express will be taking on passengers in your town soon. This steam locomotive will travel right down the city streets, smoke billowing from its stack with bell ringing and whistle blowing. This unit will carry up to 60 excited passengers once the adjoining tender car is finished. Donations will be accepted at the gate.
