In the May issue of Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles, stories include: Rose-Colored Chinese Porcelain, A Bottle Collectors Dictionary of Shapes, Vintage Knives, Round Tables and Harris Strong Tiles

/Museums PR News/ - CLEVELAND, OH, May 04, 2008 - When you think of the month of May spring cleaning comes to mind. Spring cleaning brings garage and yard sales. On any given weekend, tens of thousands of these sales are open for business across the country. Just remember that one man's trash is another man's treasure. With the Kovels' on Antiques and Collectibles Newsletter, you can tell the difference between trash and treasure. Nothing else brings the collector up to date on the latest prices, trends and news in antiques and collectibles. The 12-page, color-illustrated May newsletter is available to subscribers in print and online from the Kovels' website at http://www.kovels.com . Here are this month's featured stories:

Rose-Colored Chinese Porcelain - A rose by any other name is
collectible, especially if it's a piece of Famille Rose Chinese export
porcelain. A Chinese Famille Rose vase, made about 1900, sold for $561
at a Maryland auction. Learn more about this special kind of porcelain
in the May issue.

A Bottle Collector's Dictionary of Shapes - Remember when a spoon full
of sugar helped the medicine go down? Back in the 1800's a spoonful of
sarsaparilla did the trick - with a kick all it's own. Now the empty
bottles are valuable. A sarsaparilla medicine bottle sold for $3,920 at
a Pennsylvania auction. Learn about bottles of all kinds in our
dictionary of bottles in this month's edition.

Knives Make Sharp Collectibles - A collector on the cutting edge got a
grip of this multi-blade German folding knife for $6,325. It was one of
hundreds of antique and vintage knives sold at a San Francisco auction.
Cut on over to this month's issue to get to the point about collecting
knives.

A Roundup of Round Tables - An 1830's American mahogany table, pictured
in the May newsletter, came with a marble top and ornate detailed
carving. It probably once sat in a family's front parlor. Now it belongs
to the bidder who paid $6,169 for it at an auction in New Orleans. In
this month's issue, we show you around the round tables sold at this
auction.

Harris Strong Tiles - Five tile wall hangings by Harris Strong sold at a
March Treadway/Toomey auction in Oak Park, Illinois. Top price paid was
$600 for a 15-tile mosaic in blue tome glazes that pictures a Roman
aqueduct scene. Find out more about these tiles in the May issue.

Hartland Figurines - A group of 9 Hartland figurines depicting some of
the greats of baseball, sold recently for $600 at a Mastro online
auction. Get more details on this auction and which figurines were in
demand in this month's newsletter.

The May issue of the Kovels' newsletter also includes their regular
