Gross Neglect Inconceivable Yet Reconcilable
/Museums PR News/ - NASHVILLE, IN, July 23, 2006 - This collection exposes an entire segment of American art history previously overlooked or ignored due to over 150 years of gender discrimination. Representing much of the finest artwork ever created in the United States and generally unknown by the American public due to its significance being under recognized by art historians and scholars. This act of historical omission will now be reconciled through this reacquisition.
After being exhibited across the U.S. and in Europe over the last 18 years, the owners desire is that this collection will continue to be publicly available to all who would desire to witness its grandeur and significance. The collection contains over 400 paintings and sculptures and is an important American historical document of early women artists.
Clayton Bass CEO of the Huntsville, Alabama Museum of Art considers this group of women artists "A vital and missing piece of the puzzle that is American Art History."
